Surface and the Deepest Depths

In 2012 and 2015, Vladimirsky visited her grandparents, who lived in her childhood home, where her mother also grew up, in the Ukrainian city of Siversk in the Donbass region. During these visits she photographed her home and family. In 2022, with the outbreak of Russia Ukraine war, her grandmother fled. At a time when the area was under severe attacks, and the house was abandoned and its condition unknown, Vladimirsky orchestrated encounters between images taken in Ukraine during her aforesaid visits, and photographic material taken in Israel, emphasizing the local light. She re-photographed the result, thus tying the memory of the distant place (of which the image may be the last remnant) and the present, while bidding it farewell. Simultaneously, she is now presenting, for the first time, several direct photographs of that house.
